dc.description.abstract | My project is based on the premise that there prevail certain social and cultural constraints among the construction worker community. Construction worker get the worst treatment, mainly because of the nature of their jobs. People do not trust them easily. There are 1.25 billion people in India out of which 30% of the population consists of these construction workers. They are not consuming any resources extensively. They make do with whatever they get. Ironically, they make jhopari colonies, adjacent to the work-site and soon the proud owners of the new residences try to force them to move. Their earnings are sent to the families in the villages they have left in search of work. | |
