Ahmedabad's Bene Israel

Abstract

This Communication design project aims to document and present some facts of the Bene Israel community ofAhmedabad that has been living in the city for ever a century. Notwithstanding its long presence in the city, its history, cultureand heritage remains relativly unknown. Although in recent times, historians and members of the community itself have been writing about their lives, acees to and readership of such material remains largely limited. The purpose of thiscomunication design project is to contribute to the exercise of documenting Bene Israel heritage in the city by making a short ethnographic film in Hindi that tells us a story of the Community in thevoice of its own members.
