Climate change and environmental pollution have been topics of hot discussion globally and locally. Since the smart city fervour in India, most of the city's in India have started monitoring pollution level in these places. The pollution condition of the cities indirectly conveys us how livable is the city. Awareness about environmental pollution and Air Quality Index (AQI) has direct impact on many processes related to our lifestyle and city administration, too. Usually the pollution parameters measurement is the responsibility of local municipalities or civic bodies who do it by using standard devices of branded companies. This thesis deals with proposing a new technique for environmental pollution measurement. We say it a new technique because it uses a drone to measure pollution parameters at various locations, which is a novel proposal, to the best of our knowledge. Since our system is not a stand-alone system being fit at any traffic junction, hence we may tend to claim that our proposed solution is comparatively quite cost-effective. We have proposed it by using a specially designed board consisting of 6 sensors mounted under a drone (Quadcopter). This board consists of sensors, a micro-controller (Arduino-UNO), a radio module (GSM). We also designed a User Interface to display the location of drone and to show the sensors data at the Master Control Unit. We collected data of CO, CO2, NO2, PM10, temperature and humidity, stored them in a database (made in MySQL). Front end (UI) is designed using PHP and HTML. A small code computes the air quality using the collected data and displays on the screen for the selected area. Area location is determined by the GPS module used in the designed board. The novelty in our proposal is that we suggest to use the same drone mounted module for measuring AQI of various different locations at various different times of the day. Hence if we consider ignore the cost of the drone or consider it just one time cost, our single system may measure AQI of, let's say, 10 different locations during the whole day. Our estimated cost of this prototype module is Rs. 12,954/- only. Therefore the cost of the system per location is just Rs. 1,295.40/- in contrast to the Bosch 6 sensors Pollution Measuring device that costs over Rs. 45,000/- and which is fixed to one location only.
