    Abstract
The objective of the project work is to establish an understanding of Automation and also how it can be used for testing of IPs. The entire automation framework has been written in Perl Programming Language. The Automation framework used by Xilinx goes by the name VIPER. VIPER is the Latest Generation IP Test Flow. VIPER uses Vivado Design Suits to run the different testcases for an IP. VIPER test automation strategy enables us to increase release velocity, reduce time to market and reduce overall testing effort resulting in a significant return on investment (ROI). Finally, the results of the VIPER Regressions are captured in YODA database which gives the IP testers user friendly view of results where they can easily analyze IPs and the cause of failure if any by using the reports generated when VIPER runs the testcases in Vivado Design Suite. In a nut shell VIPER tests whether the configuration, delivery, management, and integration of the IP in Vivado is correct and this leads to a good customer experience.
