dc.description.abstract | "Electronics is getting indispensable part of the vehicluar technology. With the advancement in the vehicular technology, On-board diagnostic (OBD) emission checks are included in Inspection/ Maintenance (I/M) program. The present work introduces OBD based remote emission test. Andriod app is created which communicates with OBD port of vehicle using OBD scanner. Android app performs the emission checks and updates the report to google sheet. Google apps script associated with google sheet is written which will perform automated process of separating the report based on result, mailing the report and due date reminder mail on prescribed time interval. Algorithm for test runs successfully for both petrol and diesel vehicle and results generated out of OBD test are crossed check with pollution under control (PUC) test. Moreover the report also gets updated on google sheet and the automated processes are also verified. Hence the presented test present test can be included in I/M programs providing benefits like easy implementation, robustness, automatic report storage followed by appropriate actions and is free from malpractices of human manipulations. Secondly, current data of OBD is utilized for fleet management by sending speed, rpm, location and fuel input level on regular intervals to Ubidots IoT platform using raspberry pi, providing the real time update." | |
