Abstract: Automotive system development is getting more complex due to several reasons such as exponential increase of automotive functionality and hence development of software time. Furthermore, nowadays each vehicle has more than a hundred ECUs (electronic control units) each. Each ECU has thousands of functions. Without the AUTOSAR standard, mostly they have to be rewritten completely when the hardware is changed. To handle the above issues, the automotive industry has launched AUTOSAR which is a key enabling technology to manage the growing electrics/electronics complexity. The aim of AUTOSAR is to introduce a standard layer between application software and the hardware of an electronic control unit (ECU). Thus, it enables the reuse of various software components between different OEMs, vehicular platforms and suppliers. Thus, for the proper application of AUTOSAR, a tool is required which supports the users during system development in handling large amounts of configuration data. The aim of this project is to understand, improve and extend the functionality of KPIT K-SAR tool. The work can be divided into two parts. The first part includes a complete analysis of the K-SAR tool. In the second part, the plugin creation is done to generate and integrate the ECU configuration for Communication, Memory and Diagnostic modules. Thus, this tool can extract the configuration parameters from the input file and generate the desired ECU module configuration automatically.
