    Kite flying: an Indian experience

    Abstract
    The project attempts to create a digital experience of the feisty,colorful flavor of Kite Flying during Uttarayan in Gujarat, for the purpose of promoting tourism and the State sponsored festivities that take place during this time. The information is to be delivered in the from of an interactive CD, that is complete and immersive in nature, covering not only the aspects of kite flying and fighting, but also the cultural connotations of the festival, its symbolism, the history, legends and stories about bung and the more material aspects of the manufacture and sale of kites and manjha (the glass coated kite line used for lute fighting). The presentation will combine various digital mediums Like film, sound, illustration, interactive animation and text in a format that allows the user to explore at Will,the various aspects of kite flying in India, while providing the tourist with quick and simple access to the information he might need to plan a trip during the festival.
